Ride Guide.doc

The annual Windrush London to Brighton is upon us!

We'll meet at the lido as usual at 9am, and partake on this iconic route down to Brighton. The distance is about 85km and is a pretty straight shoot through South London, Surrey/Sussex, and finishing in Brighton b the pier. The route is a bit hilly - and we'll be tacking the Ditchling Beacon route (as steep at the famous Mt Ventoux), but fear not as we'll take a pace suitable for all involved. Depending on timing and demand we might stop for cake & coffee, but the idea is to get there for lunchtime fish & chips on the beach!

We'll hop on the train home from Brighton to Clapham Junction (its not too expensive), or for those who still have the legs - you can cycle back, but this won't be guided - please beware.

For more information - take a look here: http://sites.google.com/site/cyclingroutes/London-to-Brighton-bike-ride

The route can be found here: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/London-To-Brighton-2010

Please make sure you have your essentials - roadworthy bike, appropriate clothing, nutrition and mechanical spares, as well as ID and your train money, and that you've read the un-coached ride guidelines - see above.

Any questions please ask!

Huge thanks to Tony and Gus for getting us all to Brighton, finding some fabulous cakes ..... and the (admittedly stunning) scenic detour ;-)

Hi Dave,

Claire and Charles got the tickets, so it will be one of them who paid for yours

Comment by Dave Hyman on May 13, 2012 at 17:39

I owe someone for the ticket back to London. With getting split between train carriages and everyone disappearing off in different directions I didn't catch whoever paid for the tickets. Let me know if I owe you money....

I'm out - still sore after bike crash and don't want to make it all worse!

Enjoy.

So long as said friend understands that this is an uncoached ride and is therefore participating at his/her own risk there shouldn't be a problem.

Might be worth casting an eye over our club ride policy too.

We aim to be a friendly and inclusive bunch and you never know if they can cycle to Paris ....

Hi Tony, I've got a friend who isn't in Windrush but is training for London to Paris, would it be ok for them to tag along?
