Hell of the Ashdown - Sunday 26 - Getting there

Hi guys,

For those who are doing this on Sunday, are you planning on cycling there - adding 27km each way to the 110km race - or will you drive or get ther by train?

What kind of time do you think it will take to do it?  I am feeling a little apprehensive!!!

Hey

I would hazard a guess of at least 4.5 hours.  There aren't any hills to worry about massively - e.g. we go the easier way over Toys Hill - just lots of drags that seem to go on forever and no easy bits to cruise round.  Its a lovely route though and a real badge of honor to complete it.  Save some energy for the last 30km though.....

Maybe im over-egging it though and its easier than I remember

Hey Laura, thank you for the offer of a lift, that would be amazing if still available.  I'm just waiting to hear on my friend who I was supposed to be travelling with but she has hurt her shoulder so not sure if she is or isn't doing it now.  If she is not I would be very grateful for a lift.  I'm off at 8.30.  Happy the sun will be shining!

Yeah that was memorable - great weather, great scenery, great event. Not really Hell eh? Well maybe that climb up to Ashdown Forest

It was incredible, I was laughing out loud at certain points, a brilliant ride, and so well organised. Loved it!

It really was perfect weather - not sure it would have been as fun if it had been like previous years with wind, rain and even ice.  In terms of organisation and marshalling though I think it's a tough sportive to beat!  Great to see everyone and glad everyone had a nice day

I agree totally!  Great ride, fantastic organisation and scenery, and no where near as scary or hard as I had expected!  I'm glad the weather was so good - as you say, it made it!
