There are a series of bike sportives which are run by UK Cycling Events which include two in the New Forest on the weekend of the 14/15 April.
Myself and Charles have done several of their rides before and have always found them to be excellent. They are really well organised and friendly, have plenly of VERY well stocked food stops, you get a goody bag and medal and accurate timing and route marking, as well as bike clean, massage and cake at the end. You can start off whenever you want up to 10am with whomever you want, and ride at your own pace. Riders vary from those who are very fast, to those who ride it on a hybrid!

The rides in the New Forest are our favourites and we have done every spring and autumn one so far. The scenery is really stunning and there are no huge hills apart from one very short, steep one that most walk up!! There are 2 distances to choose from and they cover much of the same route on the day. It would be great to get some other Windrushers down there!! I was really new to cycling when I did my first 90km one as it is a great way to ride a bit further but in a controlled environment as there are plenty of people around you and no scary bits on the course!!
We have entered the 133km route on both days this year and are planning on making a weekend of it and staying down there, however, there is also a 90km route as well and you only need to come along on one day if you don't fancy that much riding. If you want to enter I suggest doing so in the next couple of weeks as they are really popular. Entires are £26 / £24
Who else is up for riding? Also, does anyone know of a good bike friendly B&B in the Brockenhurst area?
NB, the Full-On Duathlon, part of the London League races is on the Saturday which as a club we are also promoting!

Permalink Reply by nichola roberts on April 12, 2012 at 22:49 I'm doing it, getting the train at silly o'clock from waterloo. I think we might even manage to dodge the rain, fingers crossed.
Permalink Reply by Siobhan Carty on April 13, 2012 at 9:27 I'm doing it - but just the standard cycle! Getting the train from Waterloo this PM. Will be around for the two nights and staying in Brocklehurst. Anyone hanging around for weekend? Fingers crossed rain holds off...
