I have put in a last-minute entry to the Swanage triathlon in Dorset this Sunday. It's a good race, very competitive, with a sea swim in Swanage bay, part hilly, part fast/flat cycle and a scenic run on to the top of the hill north of Swanage. If anyone else wants to do it I'll be driving down Sat am, camping near Corfe Castle and returning after the race on Sunday and can give a lift if needed (call me on 07710 203861). You need to do an on-line entry today in order to register; there is a sprint race as well as olympic distance: www.conceptsport.co.uk

The swim is in Swanage bay, unusually rough this Sunday but normally calm as a millpond and surprisingly warm for a sea swim. The bike course takes in Kingston down and Corfe Castle, quite hilly in parts and has the risk of tractors, cows etc getting in the way. The run course has been altered to go straight up the side of the down north of Swanage, you climb steps the whole way! Great views when you get up to the top and a fast run back to transition. I did it in 2:22 which earned me second place in my age group and a wee trophy for the mantelpiece.
Definately on my recommended list. There are lots of camp sites near Swanage, so it could double as a Windrush camping weekend...
