New to triathlon?

So you’re thinking of doing a triathlon? Well that’s great news! But let me guess: you’re not sure if joining up to a club is the right thing to do? You’re probably asking yourself, ‘Are clubs only for people who are good at triathlon already?’ and ‘Will I be able to keep up?’. Well hopefully this will answer your questions.

So why join a club if you’re a beginner? Well, in some ways joining a club as a beginner is the best time to join. You can learn right from the start how to swim, bike and run effectively, practicing techniques to improve strength, speed and stamina.

You also get to know people who are interested in the same things you are who can help motivate you during those early months of training – often the hardest.

And on top of this you can get advice on which races to do as practices, which equipment you can hire and which you should buy and lots of other things. Don’t forget that members get discounts with our partner companies as well.

Have I convinced you yet? No? OK, so maybe you’re worried that everyone will be so much better than you? Maybe you’re thinking ‘I don’t want to be left behind on bike rides or runs’… No need to worry here either. We have track sessions which are tailored within the session for different levels of running ability and on our bike rides we have a policy of leaving no one behind. During our spin sessions you can go as hard as you like, you don’t have to keep up with the person next to you, and our swim sessions are streamed by ability too.

The bottom line is that Windrush is for you if you’re keen to get involved with triathlon, you want to improve and you’d like to train with people then Windrush is for you. Every year we have people sign-up who have never done a triathlon before alongside those with more experience, so you there will always be someone of a similar level with whom you can train.

And don’t forget, your first training session is free so you can effectively ‘try before you buy’.

Hopefully you’re now convinced so if you’d like to know more joining the club, visit our Membership pages, or you can email info@windrushtri.co.uk.
